Especially for Parents and Families

The Office of Orientation & Family Programs strives to assist family members of incoming students as they transition into the UNCG community. We are here to answer your questions, assist you as your students acclimate to the University, and keep you informed about campus resources, activities, and transition issues.

There are many ways you can stay informed during your favorite Spartan’s time at UNCG:

  • Parent/Family Association (PFA)
Join for free by following the link and start receiving Family Connections, the e-newsletter distributed monthly during the academic year to keep you posted on current happenings at UNCG. You will also have access to FamilyLink, an emergency email notification system to keep families informed in the event of a campus crisis.
  • Parent/Family Advisory Council (PFAC)
The PFAC enhances high quality programs and educational opportunities for students and their families by acting as a liaison between the Parent Family Association and UNCG. Active at campus events involving families from Family Weekend to SOAR, the PFAC also meets biannually with University officials to offer parent and family feedback to the University.
  • Family Weekend
An annual event for over 25 years, this Spartan tradition of sharing time at UNCG with your student occurs during FallFest, the University's Homecoming celebration. It is a great time to visit UNCG, enjoy a wide range of events with your students, and hear all about how the fall semester is going. Mark your calendar for Family Weekend 2009 — September 25-27. For more information about the event and registration, please click the above link.
  • Family Matters
This semi-annual print newsletter is sent to the home address of all full-time, undergraduate students to keep you posted about dates, tips, and events of interest to UNCG parents and family members.
  • Useful Resources
Browse useful links to sites of interest while your student is at UNCG.
  • FAQ
