Family Weekend is held each year during FallFest, UNCG’s homecoming celebration, and we invite all Spartan families to attend this exciting weekend with their students!

Join us for this kick-off to Family Weekend! Enjoy light hors d'oeuvres while you connect with other parents, family members, and students as well as UNCG administrators and Parent & Family Advisory Council members. Representatives from student involvement areas will also be present to answer any questions you or your student have about getting involved at UNCG. Now that your student has moved in, is beginning to get settled into college life, and may be ready to think more about ways to get involved on campus, take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what is available. There will also be a student jazz trio and fantastic Family Weekend give-a-ways!

Join other Spartan families for brunch while you enjoy an exciting program that includes remarks from UNCG’s Chancellor, an appearance from the Cheerleaders and Spartan Gs, and performances by UNCG’s Spartones and Sapphires a capella groups as well as exciting Family Weekend give-a-ways. You won’t want to miss this exciting signature event for Family Weekend!

Children’s Festival and Health Celebration – EUC West Lawn, 11am-3pm

Enjoy this exciting children’s event sponsored by the UNCG School of Education and the North Carolina Teaching Fellows. This event offers more than 50 educational opportunities including games, inflatables, music, dancing, cheering, arts, and crafts.
- Children’s Concert: Big Bang Boom – EUC West Lawn, 11-1pm

Kid’s College – EUC Dogwood Room, 11:45am
We invite all of our Family Weekend participants ages 4-12 to get crafty and participate in a pumpkin decorating contest and other fall craft projects. The pumpkins will be displayed at the Family Weekend tent in Spartan Village where all Family Weekend participants are invited to vote for their favorite pumpkin. The artist of the winning pumpkin will win a fabulous prize!
- Historic UNCG Tour – Departs from Jackson Library Steps, 11:45am & 1pm
Take a stroll through campus and visit the first building erected to the most recent. Hermann Trojanowski, Assistant University Archivist, takes you along for a historic look at points of interest on our beautiful campus. After the campus tour, Mr. Trojanowski will invite you to view current significant pieces on display at Jackson Library. Each tour is limited to the first 25 participants. In case of rain, Mr. Trojanowski will offer a slide presentation entitled “The Early History of UNCG and Campus Ghosts” in the Hodges Reading Room located on the 2nd floor of Jackson Library.
- "Rawk Band" Competition – EUC Maple Room, 11:45am
Your family is invited to "Rawk" out at UNCG's first ever "Rawk Band" competition. Bands will be comprised of three to four members. Come "Rawk" out to one of your family's favorite songs. Prizes will be awarded to the winning bands. We will provide the Rock Band® game and Wii® gaming station, you bring your best rock band impersonation!
- Trolley Tours – Departs from Stirling Street, 11:30am-1:30pm
Discover what's new at UNCG on a trolley tour through campus with featured stops at four open houses! Hop on board for a fun and informative ride, and try your luck at winning one of many exciting prizes. Tours will depart from Stirling Street, in front of the EUC, every 15 minutes from 11:30am-1:30pm. The tours will last approximately 30 minutes and stop at the Patricia A. Sullivan Science Building, Alumni House, Aycock Auditorium, and Maud Gatewood Studio Arts Building.
- Weatherspoon Art Museum – 1-5pm
UNCG’s Weatherspoon Art Museum has one of the foremost collections of modern and contemporary art in the Southeast. In celebration of FallFest and Greensboro Museum Day, tours will be available at 1, 1:30, and 2pm. Please meet in the museum lobby for the tours. Family Weekend at Spartan Village
This outdoor festival features music, food and drink vendors, inflatables, and more! You can use the 5 food and drink tickets included in your Family Weekend registration for a hot dog, hamburger, cotton candy, snow cone, or other tasty treat. You will want to be sure to stop by the Parent & Family Programs tent to win fantastic Spartan prizes and vote on the best painted pumpkin from Kid’s College. Take time to enjoy all Spartan Village has to offer!

Picnic at Piney Lake
Piney Lake Recreation Area, 4016 Blumenthal Road, 12:00-2:00
Enjoy lunch and a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities with your student at Piney Lake Recreation Area. Piney Lake has a wide variety of activities to offer including disc golf, kayaking, canoeing, fishing (catch and release), volleyball, frisbee, horseshoes, swimming, and much more. Piney Lake encompasses 40 acres of beautiful park-like land and is located approximately eight miles from UNCG. Shuttle service will be provided Shuttles will be provided to and from Piney Lake and Family Weekend participants are encouraged to utilize this service due to limited parking. Shuttles will begin at 11:30am and loop between campus and Piney Lake with the last shuttle leaving Piney Lake at 2pm. Shuttles will pick-up and drop off participants in front of the Walker Avenue Parking Deck on Stirling Street. If you plan to stay at Piney Lake beyond 2pm, you will need to provide your own transportation and directions are available at http://campusrec.uncg.edu/facilities/piney/location/. We offer both full weekend and one-day registrations for Family Weekend. Details about registration fees, what is included in each package, payment methods, and the cancellation policy are listed below.
The deadline for online registration has passed; however, we will be accepting registrations on-site registrations as space is available and on a first come, first served basis. Please note that we will only be able to accept exact cash and check payments on-site.

Additionally, if you would like your student to enjoy Saturday’s brunch and/or the Picnic at Piney Lake with you, you can purchase student meal tickets for these events. The meal tickets are $10 for each meal. Students are invited to attend all other Family Weekend events with their families free of charge.

Payment Methods
Online registrations and payments are no longer being accepted. Registration will be available on-site as space is available and on a first come, first served basis. Exact cash and checks will be the only payment methods accepted for on-site registration.
Cancellation Policy
The deadline to request a cancellation and refund was Friday, September 18, 2009.
Refunds will no longer be given for Family Weekend registration fees. If you have questions about the cancellation policy, please contact the Office of Orientation & Family Programs at families@uncg.edu or (336)334-5231.
Parking
When you arrive on campus, please plan to park in the Walker Avenue parking deck located on Stirling Street (in the event that the Walker Avenue Parking Deck is full, you may also park in the Oakland Parking Deck located off of Spring Garden Street). In order to check-in for Family Weekend, you will exit the Walker Avenue Parking Deck on the third floor and walk across the street to the Elliott University Center.
